Yes, there really is a

Bug Tussle.

The map coordinates are:
F3M4+9Q Ladonia, Texas

It is nestled north of the great

Sulphur River in northeast

Texas, Bug Tussle is a tiny place,  near the crossroads of TX-34 and FM-1550 in Fannin County. It is midway between Farmersville and Paris, just a hop scotch and a holler north of the Ladonia Fossil Park and near Ladonia State Park. http://www.texasescapes.com/.../BugTus.../BugTussleTexas.htm

Nearby communities include Greenville, Honey Grove, Pecan Gap and northwest of Sulphur Springs (take Hwy. 11 to 24 to 50 to 34 north).  Area communities include Ladonia, Greenville, Honey Grove, Commerce. There's only one other place in America named Bug Tussle, and that other one is in Oklahoma.  It's also the area of the future great reservoir for Lake Ralph Hall. It looks like Bug Tussle will be saved. First permitted in 2001, construction began in 2021. The area should be ready by the Upper Trinity Water District for the first stages of receiving water in 2026.

  • "A dam, spillway and lake intake
  • Leon Hurse Dam, approximately 2.3 miles long
  • Spillway (to release excess water back into the North Sulphur River)
  • 32 miles of untreated water pipeline and balancing reservoir
  • Roadway relocations/improvements and a new lake bridge
  • Lake office and maintenance facilities
  • Environmental improvements in specific areas around the lake, including restoring portions of the original river channel,"
  • with mitigation and watershed protection for the environment and future protection of the flow of the meandering flow of the great Sulphur River as that area of Texas grows.
  • "Relocation of Ladonia Fossil Park to a new downstream location site still to be determined
  • Upon completion, Intake structure and pump station (to move water to the balancing reservoir, where it can be pumped through pipelines to treatment). The station will initially be able to pump up to 45 million gallons per day (MGD) and eventually up to 80 MGD."
